Binondo Food Trip: The Hidden Gems of Chinatown

Binondo is considerably a melting pot of different cultures. It is home to the world’s oldest Chinatown, and a favorite Manila tourist spot for cheap items.

Don’t let the hustle and bustle of the city intimidate you. Behind the chaos are delicious gems worth exploring. Here are 10 spots to hit on your Binondo food trip!


1. Dong Bei Dumplings

  • Location: 643 Yuchengco St., Binondo, Manila
  • Opening Hours: 9 AM – 8 PM
  • Must-orders: Kuchay with Pork Dumplings (P150), Fried Beef Sinigang (P270), and their Fried Stuffed Pancakes (P200).

Known for its quick service and affordable meals, this small restaurant has been serving the foodie community for years.

2. Ying Ying House Resto

  • Opening Hours: 7 AM – 2 AM
  • Must-orders: Crowd favorites are Pork Shrimp Siomai (P75) and Hakaw (P80). Other must-tries include Roast Duck Rice (P130), Mami (P110), Chicken Taro Roll (P70), and Beef Congee (P110).

Established in 2008, Ying Ying House Resto serves affordable Cantonese dishes made with ingredients flown in from Hong Kong.

3. Sincerity Cafe & Restaurant

  • Opening Hours: 10 AM – 10 PM
  • Must-orders: Crispy, flavorful, and served in half (P180) and whole orders (P360), the fried chicken has put the restaurant on the map. Other dishes that are just as good include Kikiam (P55 per piece), Oyster Cake (P250), and 8 Treasure Machang (P135).

Sincerity Cafe is no stranger to full seating thanks to its signature Fried Chicken. A favorite especially by the locals and older generation Chinese customers, Sincerity Cafe has opened a second branch at the nearby Lucky Chinatown Mall.

4. Eng BeeTin Chinese Deli

  • Must-orders: Monggo flavors (mung beans), langka flavors (jackfruit), and custard flavors.

Eng BeeTin is a delishop selling an assortment of pastries, tikoy (sticky cake), and breads. Long-time customers however heavily associate the brand with its famous Ube (Purple Yam) Hopia (P45) –the flavor that catapulted Eng BeeTin to fame.

5. Original SaLido Restaurant

  • Must-orders: Roasted Pork Asado (P235) and a noodle dish called Chami (P190)

Popular among the older set, the Original SaLido Restaurant has gained a much younger following thanks to its bestselling Roasted Pork Asado and a noodle dish called Chami. Their hearty breakfast meals as well as signature buchi and rich coffee are also must-tries.

6. Ang Tunay Beef House

  • Must-orders: Vegetable Spinach (P100) and Mustasa (P100), Kienchi Soup (P160), brewed coffee (P70)

The no-nonsense, self-service restaurant is well known for its meats and Chinese comfort food. Their vegetable dishes such as the Spinach and Mustasa are a hit among loyal patrons. The Kienchi Soup is another favorite, including their brewed coffee.


7. Estero Food Alley – LGA Fast Food

  • Must-orders: Buttered Chicken or Sweet & Sour Chicken; P160 (small) to P260 (large)

Finding Estero Food Alley might be a bit of a challenge, but once found, it has its rewards. Budget-friendly and brimming with local flavor, the stalls here offer a range of traditional Filipino and Chinese dishes. Visitors however frequent LGA Fast Food.

8. Shanghai Fried Siopao

  • Opening Hours: 8 AM – 10 PM
  • Must-orders: Fried Siopao (P18)

As its name implies, this hole-in-the-wall food shop is famous for its Fried Siopao The siopao is actually steamed first before its bottom is lightly pan-fried, giving this ubiquitous snack a crunchy twist.

Best to eat the siopao right away so you get the full experience of its delicious bola-bola (minced pork) filling. It’s that good, one is never enough for most customers./span>

9. Lan Zhou La Mien
