Atari to Launch Eight Video Game-Themed Hotels in the US

It’s a good time to be a gamer these days. After Universal Studios Japan formally announced the planned opening of Super Nintendo World later this year, Atari has announced that it will soon break ground for the first of eight planned Atari Hotels.

The first Atari video game-themed hotel will be breaking ground in Phoenix, Arizona in mid-2020. Atari Hotels will also be built in Austin, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, San Franciso, San Jose, and Seattle. Once completed, all eight hotels are expected to offer unique entertainment options for guests of all ages and capabilities—that means newbies are very much welcome, too. These will include immersive gaming experiences that employ the use of the latest Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies.

Some of the hotels will also have venues and facilities designed to accommodate esports events. “We are thrilled to partner with GSD Group and True North Studio to build the first-ever Atari branded hotels across the United States,” said Fred Chesnais, CEO of Atari. “Together we’ll build a space that will be much more than just a place to stay.” What will the hotels look like? According to Napoleon Smith III, one of the producers who will be behind the hotel design and development, they’re aiming for a nostalgic and retro meets modern look. “Let’s face it, how cool will it be to stay inside an Atari?” he said.
