Take the once in a lifetime opportunity to trek the smallest active volcano in the world! Although a little heavy on the budget and less than an hour drive from Tagaytay's town proper, the two-kilometer trek offers the most unique experience in Tagaytay. The adventure kicks off with a short boat ride to Volcano Island before treading the sandy trails of Taal Volcano. Passing through volcanic steam vents to reach the crater, you can reward yourself with a quick swim at the peak in the sulfur-diluted lake within the volcano. The priceless scenery and breathtaking summit is definitely the adventure of a lifetime.
Sailing is not a popular activity in the Philippines but you should definitely give it a try. Instructors and boats are available for rent at Taal Lake Yacht Club for students of all levels and ages.

Formerly known as “Palace in the Sky,” the People’s Park is a historical urban park that offers one of the best panoramic views of Tagaytay. There isn’t much to do in the park itself, but if you’re into old structures, you can take a snapshot or two of the unfinished mansion that once belonged to the Marcos family.

Horseback riding is one of the most popular things to do in Tagaytay and kids would definitely enjoy giddying up around the hills of Picnic Grove.

One of the best places to go “find yourself” is at Tierra de Maria. Our Lady of Manaoag at Tierra de Maria is known to make prayers and wishes come true, which is why it is popular among tourists. The 50-foot Marian shrine, the quaint church and the quiet atmosphere make for a good place to meditate and do soul searching.

(photo via Instagram, @wendelopez) No one can ever say no to good food, and at Tagaytay there’s one strip any food lover should tread -- Bulalo Belt. Yes, the city has a strip of restaurants dedicated to the iconic Filipino dish. Bulalo is the Filipino version of Beef Marrow Stew -- a delicate bowl of shank and bone marrow in steaming beef soup. At Tagaytay, Bulalo restaurants are overflowing. At every corner you’ll see one and each won’t disappoint. But for a different take on this beautiful dish, you can try Mer-Ben Tapsilog’s Crispy Bulalo -- a deep fried take on the usual soupy dish for only P520 for a plate good for four.
One of the most popular places in Tagaytay is Sonya’s Garden. An oasis in the heart of the city, the luscious green patches of the garden serve as a getaway from all the hustle and bustle. Although it is better known as a Bed and Breakfast, one thing stands out from Sonya’s Garden -- their Secret Salad Dressing. Sonya’s Secret Salad Dressing is so delectable, people from Manila take the three-hour drive to Tagaytay just for this. While they’ll never reveal the secret behind this drool-inducing masterpiece, you can purchase a few bottles of the salad dressing to bring home with you. Sonya’s Secret Salad Dressing is definitely worth the visit!
