At just two hours from Manila, Tagaytay is the perfect place to take a quick break from the rough and tumble world of the capitol and spend some quality time with your family and friends during a holiday. The city also isn't short of tourist spots and attractions that you can visit. You can spend the day at the Tagaytay Picnic Grove, where you can have a picnic and enjoy the cool clime of the hilltop city.If you're more adventurous, you can take the zipline also located there. There are souvenir shops aplenty, and you can taste the local delicacies too. And most Tagaytay hotels have an advantage other hotels don't – a stunning view of the spectacular Taal Volcano.

2. Baguio

It’s called the Summer Capital of the Philippines for a reason. With its cool weather, its century-old history, and its famous floral festival, Panagbenga, it’s no surprise Filipino families flock to this location whenever they have the time. There’s no shortage of things to do in the City of Pines. You can take in its history by visiting the Diplomat Hotel or the Laperal White House, or enjoy its cool air by lounging at the Mines View Park or at Burnham Park. However, be sure to book in advance, as Baguio hotels fill up very quickly during such celebrations like the Panagbenga Festival.

3. Sagada

SAGADA

Further up north is the town of Sagada, which is as diametrically opposed to Baguio as can possibly be. If Baguio is a bustling center of people and activities, Sagada is a more laidback town. With a population of 11,244 people according to the 2010 census, it’s a destination for the more contemplative traveler, one who’s looking to commune with nature more than anything else.Sagada hotels are often affordable, and you won’t be spending that much time in them anyway as you’ll spend most of your stay in Sagada either spelunking in its beautiful caves or visiting the Hanging Coffins of Echo Valley.

4. Subic

The former home of one of the United States (US) largest military facilities outside of the US mainland, the Subic Bay Naval Base, the Zambales municipality is now the home of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The Freeport Zone is home to a host of tourist attractions, such as the Ocean Adventure Park, Zoobic Safari, the El Kabayo waterfalls, and its famed shipwrecks. A lot of its visitors spend day trips there, as it is only a four-hour drive from Manila, but if you’re looking to stay longer, there are quite a number of Subic hotels that will be willing to accommodate you.

5. Baler

While it’s hailed as one of the top surf spots in the country, Baler is also more than its nine-foot high waves. The capital of the province of Aurora is also home to rock formations, waterfalls, and a storied history. Once you’re done hanging ten, you can explore the city’s history by visiting the Baler Museum and the Baler Church, where the Philippine Revolution’s Siege of Baler took place. There’s also a range of Baler hotels you can choose from, depending on what activity you decide to engage in.
