More than just a beautifully designed property, Hotel Luna is a destination in itself. Aptly named after the famous Ilocano artist, Juan Luna, the hotel pays homage to the town’s rich history by showcasing one-of-a-kind art pieces and other priceless items.

The Rooms

Hotel Luna has a total of 54 spacious and elegant rooms which perfectly blend classic interiors with modern amenities. All rooms come fully air-conditioned and equipped with ultra-comfortable orthopedic beds, a flat-screen LED TV, a mini-refrigerator, a luxurious en suite bathroom and pretty much everything you need to recharge.

But what really steals the show is the hi-tech Japanese toilet! On top of the standard built-in bidet, it also features a seat warmer, a feminine washer, a dryer and more cool settings that you’re free to tinker with.

The King Executive Suite is 37 square meters and comes with a spacious bathroom, a jacuzzi, a sofa, and a dining area.
The King Loft Suite is a massive 53 square meters room which comes with a separate receiving area and a loft-style bedroom.

The Museum

In addition to its stunning interiors lovingly preserved since the Spanish era, the hotel is home to one of the largest art collections by renowned Filipino artists both old and new. You’ll see works by; Master Sculptors, Napoleon Abueva and Ramon Orlina; National Artists, Vicente Manansala and Fernando Amorsolo, and of course, Juan Luna.

Precious pieces are scattered around the property; displayed in glass boxes, carefully placed between shelves, and boldly featured outdoors. There are even centuries old vases and ancient treasures that are said to predate human existence. Though the best way to fully appreciate the art and its history is by staying overnight, museum tours are absolutely free and open to the public.

The Location

Hotel Luna is conveniently located in the heart of the UNESCO heritage village and is a block away from Calle Crisologo. From the property, you can enjoy easy access to the best of Vigan and walk through the cobble stoned streets of the famous Ilocos town.

Since the site is pretty small, the area can be easily explored by foot. To get the full experience, you can rent a kalesa- a horse-drawn carriage. The streets nearby are lined with colonial era residential buildings, interesting Ilocano art, and other curious items. Other tourist spots in Vigan like the Bantay Bell Tower and the Bantay Church are five-minutes away from the property by car.

The Food

One of the best things about Ilocos is its food, and Hotel Luna’s all-day restaurant does not disappoint. Start your day right with a hearty breakfast at Comedor, which serves glorious stacks of Vigan Longganisa, fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, and more.

Meals are best paired with steaming sinangag (garlic rice) and a cup of coffee with their special ballcucha sweetener (coco sugar). Dishes are by Chef Robby Goco of Green Pastures, so it’s safe to say that you’re in good hands.

They also have a rooftop hangout called Azotea which has amazing views of the Vigan Skyline, and a bar called Choola Saloon (named after Juan Luna’s Chula) where you can enjoy an extensive selection of wines, craft beers, and single malt whiskeys. Of course, you can also try out some of Vigan’s best restaurants like Cafe Leona’s, BarTech, and Lampong’s Restaurant.

Insider Tips

Try Comedor’s Ilocano inspired Spanish dishes such as the Paella with Bagnet and the Vigan Croquettes.
Discover the story behind each painting and sculpture. Some works are over a hundred years old and were painted during interesting times in our history. There are even two paintings created with the Artist’s blood!
Book a night on Halloween -- the property and staff are decked out in costume for the spooky celebration.
Enjoy a relaxing dip at the pool. Though the pool is quite small, it serves as a great respite for guests who want to cool down after a whole day of touring.
Explore Calle Crisologo when the streets are empty. The best times to visit are during the early morning or right before sunrise.
Visit Irene’s Empanadas for a taste of the original Vigan Empanada. You can try out the different fillings and even shop for souvenirs!
Visit Padre Burgos’ (of GomBurZa fame) home. Stand on the hero’s old bedroom and find items like weaving materials, antique furniture, and all thing Vigan.
